Have you ever bookmarked an important website, be it a news article or maybe the instructions to an esoteric Unix application, only to discover months or even years later that the site no longer exists? Whats more, do you keep notes or documents on your compter that you wish were available to you when you where on the road, at your office, home, etc? Evernote solves this problem, and how!

Evernote is an application that runs on Windows and Apple’s OS X (and Linux via the web). It lets you save entire websites (images and text), documents, photos, movies, etc. These “notes” are also uploaded to the Evernote servers, making them available to any web browser, including web enabled cell phones like Apple’s iPhone. From Evernotes website, “Evernote allows you to easily capture information in any environment using whatever device or platform you find most convenient, and makes this information accessible and searchable at any time, from anywhere.”

I have seen the future of video cameras! The Flip Video camera by Pure Digital is a dead simple video capture device that is capible of 640 x 480 (VGA) resolution… and not much more. It doen’t do any special effects, it has no fancy “flip out” screen, and video quality is about equal to standard deffinition TV. Why is it so important? Because it makes recording video (and moving the video to your computer, YouTube or a DVD) so easy my 10 month old niece could do it. The price? The original Flip Video is on sale at Amazon for $123.83 as I type this. There is a new and improved “Ultra” version available too at just $155.00. Both hold 60 minutes of video. The video quality is no where near that of a full fledged digital camcorder, but the ease of use and simpicity more than make up it. This is the iPod of video recorders. Needless to say, I’m very much looking forward to the HD version that is no doubt on it’s way.

On Sunday (2/10/2008) Emily and I attended KPCC’s FilmWeek Oscar Preview hosted at the historic Grauman’s Egyptian Theater by Larry Mantle. What a great opportunity it was to hear some insightful discussion on the upcoming 2008 Oscar awards. Sadly, most of the critics got the film of the year wrong - it should be Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood.

This wonderful piece of Los Angeles history was built in 1922, before Grauman’s Chinese Theater….

Ed Morrissey of the wonderful Captains’s Quarters blog asked readers if Ron Paul should give back the money he took from white supremacists.

The AOL poll is here:
”What should Ron Paul do with a contribution from a white supremacist?”

If you look at the results, it appears that most of the people who feel Paul should keep the money come from the south… Ha!

As of 1am friday
70% say he should give it back or donate it.
30% say he should keep it.
